Dr. Nirit Bernstein is a senior research scientist at the Agricultural Research Organization, Volcani Center, Rishon Le-Zion, Israel. Dr. Bernstein is the first scientist in Israel to study whole plant cannabis. Nirit has a PhD in Plant Physiology from the University of California, Davis USA, and a B.Sc. in Agricultural Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
Dr. Bernstein’s research currently focuses on regulation of production of plant derived pharmaceuticals in medicinal plants by manipulation of environmental and agronomic treatments; optimization of agrotechniques for environmentally stressed plants; mineral nutrition of plants, and plant stress physiology. Nirit is the Chief Editor of the internationally recognized journal Israel Journal of Plant Science, she is a member of editorial boards of 7 international scientific journals, editor of special issues in scientific journals, author of more than 50 peer reviewed publications, and of invited reviews and book chapters. She has also published over 70 academic publications. She serves as the Chief Editor of scientific manuscripts in Hebrew for the Ministry of Agriculture in Israel. Dr. Bernstein is a lecturer of two graduate level courses at the Hebrew University, Israel.
